We still have about twenty shirts left over from the Change Gears- Ride a Bike: Ride for Your Health event held in May. If you weren’t able to participate there is still time to get a shirt. Shirts are available for a $10 donation to the Public Health Partnership of Licking County. Contact

6th Annual Kickin' Ash Splash
The 6th annual Kickin' Ash Splash was held at the Thank you to everyone who attended the event and made it a huge success! The Kickin' Ash Splash was sponsored by the Licking County Health Department, Licking County Wellness Coalition, Licking Memorial Health Systems, Park National Bank and Time Warner Cable. Become a Freshstart Facilitator to Help Tobacco Users Quit for Free!Freshstart is a program specially designed to help tobacco users plan a successful quit attempt by providing information, skills for coping with cravings, and group support. Freshstart is a program that uses the most current guidelines for tobacco cessation support in four one hour face-to-face group support sessions. During the program, participants will increase their motivation to quit, learn effective approaches for quitting and guide them in making a successful quit attempt. Community centers, worksites, school districts and faith based organizations can implement the Freshstart tobacco cessation support program at their organization to help tobacco users quit for FREE! Tobacco Treatment Specialist CertificationThe Tobacco Treatment Specialist (TTS) Certification Course requires prerequisite training in counseling, social work, nursing, or addictions medicine; prior experience in tobacco dependence treatment; and a rigorous post-test. This course has been designed to meet the national standards being developed by the Association for Treatment of Tobacco Use and Dependence (ATTUD). Tobacco Treatment courses will be one week long, and offered twice in 2010. After initial certification, TTS trained individuals need continuing education in tobacco-related subjects to retain certification.
Date: September 13-17, 2010 Location: The Breathing Association Fee: $450 before August 17, $500 after August 17 (the fee includes breakfast, lunch and snacks each day) Register online here. Credit Hours: Approved for 36.5 for ONA and 33.5 for Chemical Dependency Professionals Board PID# 10-091CSPD. Social Work and Pharmacy credit hours approval pending.
